The story behind the name
Named after a grandmother's habit of heart.
When my grandmother was aging, she had a way of calling my mother and her sister by the same name — Walbon. A blend of Walli and Bonnie, said without apology. Looking back, it may have been one of her early quirks.
Now my mother is getting older, and I notice a quiet shift. Things that used to be easy are becoming harder. Technology in particular — a new app, a password reset, a confusing screen — has become a source of frustration.
Since my father died, I've become the phone call she makes when something isn't working. I'm glad to be that person. But I can feel it — less laughter, more troubleshooting. And a part of me misses the easier version of us.
I've worn a few hats over the years: I studied Ergonomics, designed fine jewelry, created software during the dot-com era, and trained as an Internal Family Systems informed guide. All of that converged on a single question — what if there were an elegant, non-technical solution, something as simple as a text message, that could carry some of that weight?
That question became Wallibon.
